What do you do when life throws you a curve ball?

When it seems like the world is against you?

Life happens and things might not turn out the way you planned. There are days when it is hard to deal with the emotions that life brings, and you just want to numb it with eating.

However, food will only distract you from the situation for a while, it will not fix the problem. It will make you feel good but will then have the after effect of excess weight.

The more you eat as a result of your emotions, the more you are strengthening the habit of feeding your emotions temporary with food. It will be your go-to when you feel mentally exhausted.

I have learnt to sit with my emotions, feel it and let it ride away without taking me along with it or keeping me stuck with excess weight cos of emotional eating.

You cannot predict what happens in life, but you are responsible for how you react to it, knowing that it will all work out for good.

What am I saying in a nutshell? Separate your mood from your food.

A good place to start is journaling your thoughts and exactly how you feel. Take a break and choose to rest or sleep instead of reaching out for the food, watch your favourite movie or phone a friend. It helps to have a list of things you love doing for selfcare. In that way you will not have to reach for food when you are not hungry.

Whatever challenge you are facing, know that you are a strong and have overcome challenges in the past and this too shall pass. Do not let circumstances rule your health goals.
